You do not have to be video editing expert to cut and join your videos using Video Edit Master. The application was designed to allow almost anyone to edit his/her videos using simple steps. Because the main aim of Video Edit Master is to cut and join video files without re-encoding for quality and speed reasons, all video files must have the same specs (codec, resolution and frame rate). Read on for a detailed explanation of every part of Video Edit Master.
Project Files
- Project Files list (1):
- Contains a list of all the video files used in your project. Video Edit Master can play and edit any media type providing that a suitable codec is installed on your system but will only make movies of AVI, MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 files. This list shows some information about your video files like resolution, duration and type. You can sort this list easily by a simple click on a column header. You can have files of different types or with different specs in your project.
- Add Entire File button (2):
- Adds the selected video file as one part of the final movie. This is useful when you want to join multiple files (e.g. movies split on two CDs) without any editing to make one movie file.
- Edit File button (3):
- Open the selected file in the Video Editor for you to cut the parts that you want to include in your final movie. You can do the same by double clicking any file in Project Files list.
Video Editor
- Size Slider (1):
- If you move your mouse above the slider area, it will change to left and right arrows indicating that you can move this to make the Video Editor area wider while you are editing your videos. The application also has a Size Slider between Project Files list and Movie Parts list.
- Video Editor (2):
- This video editor is used to cut any parts of your video and include them in your final movie. If for example you want to remove commercials from your video, you should start selection from the beginning of your video until just before the first commercial and this as a part, start selection just after the first commercial until just before the beginning of the second commercial, add this part to movie parts...etc.
- Seeking Slider (3):
- This slider is similar to what you see in most video players to show the current position of the video and seek to another position in addition to a selection marker that shows the current selection graphically (in green).
- Play and Stop buttons (4):
- Play button used to Play and Pause the video, Stop button is used to stop the video and rewind to the beginning of it.
- Next and Previous buttons (5):
- Next button pauses your video if it was playing and goes seeks to the next frame. Previous button do the same but seeks 100 milliseconds backwards. You can click and hold these buttons for repeated actions.
- Capture Frame button (6):
- Pressing this button will capture the current frame to an image file.
- Play Rate buttons (7):
- The small up and down buttons allow you to increase and decrease the play rate of your video file (if it supports it). This is only used to help you editing and has no effect on the final video file.
- Mute button and Volume slider (8):
- Mutes and changes the video volume. This has no effect on the final video file.
- Video Name label (9):
- Show the name of the video file currently loaded in the Video Editor.
- Position text box (10):
- This text box shows the current position of your video file in this format HH:MM:SS.sss. if you click inside this text box, the Video Editor will pause playing and allows you the seek to another position by typing the location and click Set button or pressing the Enter key of your keyboard. The numbers you write in this text box will automatically overwrite what's in.
- Duration label (11):
- Shows the duration of the currently loaded video file.
- Selection start and Selection End (12):
- Sets the selection start and end to the current position of the video file by pressing the Set button. To change Selection Start or Selection End:
- play your file to the required position or seek directly to it (using Seeking Slider, Previous and Next Buttons, Position text box...etc) and click Set of the Selection Start or Selection End. Please note that because the application does not re-encode files, it will seek to the next key frame of your Selection Start and move the Selection End position accordingly. You can seek to the selection start or end again any time by double clicking the Selection Start or Selection End labels.
- Add Part and Update Part buttons (13):
